EARLY ENRICHMENT PROGRAMMES
Our Early Enrichment programmes are designed for children aged 2-4.
Drawing on the approaches of music educators Dalcroze, Orff and Kodaly, the classes are intended to develop aural, rhythmic, melodic and other basic music skills through the use of movement, song and percussion instruments.
THEORY, COMPOSITION, AND MUSIC APPRECIATION
Theory and composition classes are available, separately or combined. Theory classes can be taken to supplement practical work and also in AMEB exams.
Theory is combined with aural training to obtain the maximum practical benefit.
Composition is a music specialisation in its own right. Classical to modern and popular works can be studied.
THE SUZUKI METHOD
Teaching the Suzuki philosophy is an excellent approach for young children. Developed by renowned violinist and music educator Dr. Shinichi Suzuki in Japan, the approach has nurtured musical love and ability in millions of children worldwide.
Dr Suzuki called his teaching the mother tongue approach, inspired by the fact that children learn to speak their native tongue so effortlessly.
The teaching works with all the mechanisms at play in your child’s natural learning environment - listening, motivation, repetition, step by step mastery, memory, parental involvement and love.
EXAMS
Parkville Music School endorses the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) levels.
Exams are undertaken at the discretion of your child and his/her teacher but are not an expectation.
